How long does the parking air conditioner last?
Friends who have installed
truck parking air conditioners often talk about the usage time of their
truck parking air conditioners when chatting together. Those who have not installed
no idle ac unit for trucks but want to install one are thinking about how long they can be working continuously.
To get knowing the time of
no idle ac unit for trucks can work, we have to know what factors are related to the usage time of
no-idle truck ac? How can we calculate the usage time based on experience?
- Battery capacity
The amount of electricity that our car battery can store directly determines how long the
parking air conditioner can be used. A group of 150AH batteries and a group of 330AH batteries have more than double the power stored, and the use time will also be doubled.
The formula for calculating the stored power of the battery is: 24V*150AH=3600WH=3.6KW*H, which means that a 150A-hour battery pack can store 3.6 kWh of electricity.
- No Idle Air Conditioner Power
What I am referring to here is the input power of the
parking air conditioner. The input power and cooling capacity must not be confused. The input power is generally in the range of 700-1200W, and the cooling capacity is in the range of 2000-2800W. The difference between the two is more than 2 times.
Usually the
no idle ac unit for trucks we install have different powers due to their different brands and models. Generally speaking (take the split type
parking air conditioner as an example), three powers will be marked on the
parking air conditioner, namely the compressor power, the condensing fan power, and the evaporation box power. The sum of these three is the
no-idle air conditioning for semi trucks power.
In general, the higher the power of the
parking air conditioner, the better the cooling effect, and the shorter the corresponding use time.
- External environment
The use of
no idle ac unit for trucks is the same as that of home air conditioners. The higher the external ambient temperature, the worse the condensation effect of the refrigerant, and the more electricity the
parking air conditioner consumes.
The inverter air conditioner can control the power of the compressor and the condensing fan according to the temperature difference between the inside and outside of the cab, so as to achieve the purpose of saving electricity and prolonging the use time. The real frequency conversion on the market is about 20% longer than the fixed frequency.
Having said so much, how to calculate the usage time of the
parking air conditioner?
Taking the split air conditioner as an example, its electrical parameters indicate that the rated input voltage is 24V, the rated input current is about 30A, and its rated input power is 24V*30A=720W. Assuming that the battery has a capacity of 180AH and has been used for 2 years, the engine can be started in order to ensure the remaining power.
Then this group of batteries can release up to 180AH*24V*(1-2*18%-25%)=1684.8WH. In the formula, 18% is the annual loss of the battery, and 25% is the power required to ensure the normal start of the engine.
1684.8WH/720W=2.34H, since our truck split air conditioner is an inverter air conditioner, the actual use time is about 2.34*1.2=2.808H. A set of 180AH batteries for two years can be used for about 2.8 hours during the day with Haier
parking air conditioner. 2 batteries can reach 5 to 6 hours during the day, and can run continuously for more than 10 hours at night.
Due to the slightly lower temperature at night, the condensing effect of the condenser is better, and the frequency conversion effect of the
no-Idle truck ac will greatly prolong the nighttime use.
To conclude, we know that for most of trucks, the
no idle ac units can be lasting for about 5-6 hours.
